Caelis is located in the Hotel Palace, the old Barcelona Ritz, the room’s interior design gives the space distinction and elegance and produces a unique atmosphere. Details are carefully looked after to offer customers an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant has a capacity for 50 guests in its main room, a discreet private room that can accommodate up to 10 guests, and a table in the kitchen (the “table du chef“) to follow, in situ, and from a privileged perspective, the creation of all the restaurant’s dishes.

Romain Fornell

Romain Fornell was born in Toulouse, France, in 1976. He was chosen Best Young Chef of the Midi Pyrénées, which allowed him to work at Les Jardins de l’Opera, where he learned classic French cuisine. In 1996 he moved to Barcelona to be second-in-command at La Maison du Languedoc Rousillon. In 1997 he returned to Toulouse and began to work with Michel Sarran, with whom he established the bases of his current creative Mediterranean cuisine. In 1998 he opened his own restaurant in Lozère. In 1999 he had the opportunity to work with Alain Ducasse at Paris’ Taillevent, where he consolidated his training. In the year 2000 he opened the restaurant Chaldette, and a year later this led him to win his first Michelin star (2001), at 24 years of age, he was the youngest French chef ever to achieve it. In 2002 he returned to Barcelona to be in charge of the late Restaurant Diana at the Palace Hotel . In 2004, Diana became Caelis. One year later, in 2005, he was awarded a Michelin star and became the only French chef to get this distinction in France and in Spain. More info about Caelis , Romain and the team.
